I have a line on some WASR's and I have read before that some of the WASR's have canted sights, how would I determine this and how would I fix this?
This is my first adventure into the AK world so please help.

Look down the barrel. If they're very far off, it's pretty obvious.

You can use a laser, or even a piece of string to gauge them as well, but if you can't tell by looking at it, and it hits what you're aiming at, who cares?

They're also not that hard to straighten, so if you can get a really good deal on one that has canted sights, I would not let that stop you from buying it.

What do you suppose would be a fair price?  I looked at several this weekend at the gunshow and they were trying to get 599 out of them.

I personally think that's a little steep.

In a free market, people can sell things for whatever someone will pay.

Sometimes the market gets artificial nudges. Right now, you're dealing with the election year panic. Many folks are convinced that if Obama is elected, he will attempt to pass sweeping gun control legislation.

But even more importantly, you're seeing dealers who notice this panic, remember four years ago, and hear the sound of cash registers.

I agree that the price is too steep. Generally speaking, gunshows rarely have any good deals. Certainly not on in demand complete firearms. I think if you'll look around you may find a local dealer or private person (if that's legal in your state) that is not greedy and is looking to sell at a fair price.

Or if you're panicked and can't be bothered to look around, that might be a good price, because 3 months from now it might be $900. Up until a month ago, they were $450 around here. I could probably still find one for that, but it would take some effort.

If you don't have to have it now, I would wait and do any firearms or big ammo purchases next year. This year would be a good time to focus on training, accessories, and maintenance.

There is a friend of mine that is going to go look at some tonight and I was thinking of snagging two maybe even three, if the price were right because I too hear the panic buying cash registers.

There is a pretty big gunshow this weekend and I was thinking about trying to peddle them there, and keeping the best one for myself of course.

Well then, you understand how this works.

I would wait to sell them. The price will be going up before it ever goes back down.

I'd look up whatever legally is considered dealing firearms without a license.  Buying a handful to turn around and immediately sell for profit is a good way to get in trouble unless you have an FFL.

You know it, I don't mess around with that stuff.
