I see things that I don't like coming up quicker than I would like. I live in the FL Keys, in order for me to get anywheres safe in the event anything happens I have to travel through some really nasty areas to get there. With that being said I'm debating taking my money that I was going to spend on a nice AR and just buy an underfolder AK.
I'm looking for.. reliably built, will last under abuse Under 800, preferably between 500-600 not bottom of the barrel mildly accurate, doesn't need to be match grade, don't want a 8 moa lead slinger either NFA legal, with the shortest barrel I can own without a tax stamp. If it were me, I'd look for a Yugoslavian Underfolder on the Equipment Exchange here or look for one in a local gun shop.
The can be had for anywhere from $600 to $750, depending on condition and accessories. They're built like tanks and most are surprisingly accurate. Just my $0.02... |

Yugoslavian M70 would be good, the Polish one you're looking at would be good too.
That said, have you ever considered an AMD-65 from Centerfire? They have the original Hungarian chrome lined barrel and original Hungarian FEG receiver. They're really well built and will hold up to abuse. Mine is by far the best AK I've ever owned, and I've owned an Arsenal SGL-31. Very reasonably priced too. Some don't like the stock though. That's all personal preference though. Some people don't like the underfolder stocks either. Link to AMD-65 |

I was very happy with rifle and service. The above suggestions look good too. The price on that hungarian one is fantastic. |
