Polished the trigger group on my SAR-2 and got a glass smooth single stage trigger. At the range today 3 different times it "bumped" and fired two shots. Did I make it to smooth ? Every thing is working correctly and I only polished the surface, did'nt change any angles. This happened when slowly squezzeing the trigger. Going to drop in another group for now.

meh, I had an AR trigger that was "too" light that if I didn't hold on the overtravel  I could easily bumpfire from recoil.

make sure your finger isn't going for reset of disconnector "too" fast

You're doing the right thing. Otherwise, you have created a machine gun in the eyes of the law.

Check how you installed everything.  Had a friend who did the same thing, he had re-installed things improperly.

You bumpfired it. There is nothing wrong with the trigger.

This +2 you probably just need to try getting off the trigger a little quicker with your finger after it fires to prevent it. BUT... It's a bitch with others looking and listening at the range while you are trying to adapt or get used to it.
I'd either drop in another one, or keep another one with you in your range bag (as insurance) in case someone comes along and tries giving you a hard time or attitude...

I know this sucks, and I hate to have to say it, but... That's the political environment we find ourselves in these days.

Good luck.

You're serious?

Making a trigger light enough that it bumpfires all the time would be stupid, but not illegal. If you have to pull the trigger one time to make the gun fire one time, it's a semi auto.

The trigger pull being 10lbs or 10oz doesn't enter into it.

On many rifles, if you "milk" the trigger (pull very slowly), the spring pressure plus your finger on the trigger can cause the disconnecter to push the trigger back and fire a second shot.

The mechanical fix for this is to slightly increase the disconnecter engagement with the hammer by stoning the bottom of the disconnecter to tip it forward slightly.  With more engagement with the hammer, milking the trigger won't allow a "bump fire".

You're right - I missed the part in the post where it mentioned the word 'bump'. I thought it had doubled. The law states 'more than one shot from a single pull of the trigger' which makes doubling illegal. Heck, my own AKs with Tapco trigger sets will do the same thing.

Put a Tapco G2 in there and call it a day.

Way back when, I had Krebs Custom refinish, thread, and perform a trigger job on my Sar-1.
Had the same issue with shoulder bump fire.

Swapped the Century FCG out for a Tapco.
