| This question is for my new to me Converted Saiga 7.62x39. The connection between the gas piston and the rest of the bolt carrier assembly isn't as rigid as I would expect. There is a thread or 2 still showing and the piston is allowed to wobble a bit. Is this typical or something to fix? Ive tried to screw in the piston a little more but this is as far as it's going....... |
| Yes, this is standard on all AK type rifles. It allows the gas piston to seat in the gas block even if the carrier is slightly off or the gas block isn't exactly straight on the barrel. The reason you can't screw it in anymore is because there is a rivet going through the carrier and the piston. |
