I'm looking at possibly buying a 20" Saiga in 7.62x39. My only misgivings with the rifle are the expensive magazine, but I understand they can be converted to accpet AK mags. Is this true? If so, what's involved with the conversion and where are the parts available. I know these Saigas can be converted to look like AK's but I'm not interested in that right now.
Thanks in advance for any help. GG |

Thanks in advance for any help. GG Yeah, they can be converted pretty easily. I have a 16" barrel version that i converted to take standard AK mags. All you have to do is install a bullet guide, and file the mag catch a little. Just be aware, though, that when you do this, 922r applies. Carolina Shooting supplies carries the bullet guide kits, complete with tap and drill bit. |
| It is true and relatively simple. It requires the installation of a bullet guide onto the front trunnion.(saiga proprietary mags have them on the mags) You can purchase the whole kit, drill bits included at dinzag arms. Just find the one that corresponds with your rifle. |
