I've recently received my first AK (A Saiga) and it has a TAPCO Slant Muzzle Brake.  Currently, the "slant" part of the muzzle brake is facing Up and to the Left.  It seems that most photos I see of other AK's have it facing Up and to the Right and I'm wondering if mine should be facing the other way?

Should the "slanted" part of the brake to face either Up and to the right, or up and to the left.  Which is correct for a right-handed shooter?

Thanks!

All of mine are up and to the right. If there's only (1) dentent pin notch.....maye it's a Lefty model they offer.

the correct way should face to the right as you are aiming the weapon

Thanks guys.  Looks like mine must have been set up for a lefty then.  Its a Tapco that has two detents so it appears that I can set it to face upper left or upper right so hopefully I can just move it to the other detent.

Thanks!

and don't worry if you have to "unscrew" it one revolution and it's a bit loose.  that's normal.

Keep the USA slant brake on that rifle - it may be required for 922r compliance.

Mine has a wobble to it.  It doesn't affect anything.

Thankyou sir.  That was my next question

In its current form (slant facing left) it was screwed down almost all the way so I had to unscrew it about a revolution to get the pin into the other detent and have the slant face right.  Its a  smidge loose....but not rattling around or anything crazy like that.  Seems just fine.

Thanks alot for the help.

A trick is to sand on the back of the brake and keep trying it until you get it snug and indexed in the right notch. Sounds like you would need to take off very little to get it right. Fasten a piece of fine emery cloth to a flat surface. Hold the brake vertical and lightly rub the back end on the abrasive, keeping it straight up. Once it's fitted, just hit the bare steel with some cold blue and oil.

Another option is a steel washer and notch it so the detent pin will pass through
