Hi folks,
I'm getting ready to order up a Saiga-12 and an Arsenal AK from Atlantic. Couple quick questions for ya. I'm thinking about these: http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storeproduct822.aspx (quad rail) http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storeproduct838.aspx (standard black) Is that quad rail a good quad rail? Would I be better off getting something after market (to be self-installed)? I would be using it for a light and a micro red-dot. Will both of these accept my Romanian wire folder in my shop? It is the standard (Brownells bought) wire side-folder. I have no desire to pay hundreds of $ for Arsenal's side-folder, I've already bumped my budget to the max (I started out looking at the $500 stuff). Are these generally good options? I'm normally an AR guy, so I have an amateur knowledge here. Regards, Burns |

I'd get the standard.
The quad rail is the Midwest Industries, but the MI Optic Specific handguard will be better for an optic. Also the Ultimak is a good lightweight option. It has a standard AK trunion, so your sidefolder should fit fine. |

I have an SGL with and without the rail I prefer the one without. The rail makes it unbalanced and it DOES get hot if you rapid fire.
It's a good rail, but many have also mentioned that since it clamps to the barrel, it does open up your groups. The other Russian you listed has the extra receiver holes and the hash marks. Email Atlantic for a discount on the 21. They are great to deal with and ship fast!!! |
