Bought each of my boys a WAR-10 for Christmas.  Removed the tacked-on muzzle nuts with a Dremel Tool on the first one without any problems.  The second one was welded differently as the weld went all the way down to the rearmost thread.  Only came off with a considerable amount of resistance and when removed revealed that it had FUBAR'd the threads but good.  The threads have been flattened by about 50% and won't accept a new muzzle brake as a result.  Researched an earlier post here about utilizing a re-threading die but all I can find in the links or on the web are full-up 14x1 LH dies.

Anone ever had to chase the remnants of their old threads to repair them this way?  Would be interested in hearing any advice you might have.

Post some pics if you can. Depending on how bad they are you could just run a die over them but if most of them are really bad then you may have to do something else.

I've never repaired the threads on an AK, but a regular die should work fine.

A rechasing die is just a dull regular die.  Before rechasing, people just used an old die.

Umm, a die is a die.  If it's worn out, it's garbage and needs replaced with a new die.  You chase threads with the die when they are damaged and there is no such thing as a rechasing die.  In fact, rechasing isn't even a word.  Buy a die and chase your threads.
