some ak sight post can be frozen up tight as hell. So,I made a home made one out of a left over piston from a kit. a two piece design.all it takes is a 4 1/2 " angle grinder with a thin cutting disc. I cut off the head and leave a inch or so, of the thin shaft that is cut to a u shaped -notch to slide over the sight post. the piston head has a big notch in it where another left over chunk of the piston shaft is ground down flat to fit in the piston head.(T shaped) its rock solid and tough as hell and cost nothing, but a little time.
I made one just because alot of them are junk, and this design will loosen up even the most stubborn sight post |

If you are somewhat handy with tools, you can build your own.

All should be good; it's a piece of steel
Try using a Chinese made tool to adjust the windage on a Warsaw Pact rifle. The sight drum is larger than the hole in the tool. Result? It doesn't work. Why? The tool is not designed for that rifle. Next try using that tool to adjust the elevation on a rifle which has the post staked in place. Result? The soft steel gives way and the tool breaks. Why? Because not every piece of steel is the same as every other piece of steel. |
