I just purchased a 1960 milled AK from CAI from Gunbroker.  Yeah, its a CAI but the reviews seem to have been good on these and I got to handle one at a local gun shop but by the time I went back, it was gone.  Anyway, i really liked the look of the wood on this model and it came with the bayonet, 3 mags and a leather sling.  I didnt notice in the pic, however, that there was no sling swivel on the rear buttstock.

In order to add one, would i have to dremel it out so that the swivel is flush with the buttstock?  What would be the easiest way to add one?

Thanks

Obligatory pic of rifle...

I can't tell you the name of it,but I just recently seen a single point sling mount
that mounts between pistol grip and receiver. Not sure if single point is your thing.
That said,if your after a normal mount, you can cut it in with an exacto knife kit for @ $10.
They come with a chisel like blade in them, you will be done in 10 min.

Do you happen to know someone who is good with a router?
You might remove the buttstock, then take it and the swivel to a cabinetmaker.
First use a pencil to outline the placement of the swivel on the stock so there isn't any misunderstandings.

I actually just saw that.  Its made by Echo 93 or something like that.  I

I dont want to have to try to get another buttstock and try to match the wood....nor do I want to carve this one up

Thanks

Mine doesn't have the rear swivel either.

And your wood looks way more awesome that's it. I need another one.

Maybe a receiver mount like on the Yugo RPK?

I've seen some chicoms with the sling top-mounted at the wrist.

cleanest way is to use a mill to cut the groove.  Hard part is making the fixture to hold it without denting the wood.
