My AK is a WASR-10/63 and the only negative I have experienced was that the barrel nut was welded on.  With some filing and difficulty I get that barrel nut off and thinking how wild my rifle would look with a Krink flash hider, ordered one. Not one of those overpriced ones but one that looked good.  It has two holes or small ports in the top a few degrees apart and I positioned them upward . When I shot the rifle with the Krink on it the show low and to the left. I have a Mojo peep rear sight with windage & elevation adjustments but it shot all over the target..Removed the doggone thing and re zeroed the rear sight and the rifle was quite accurate, could his snuff can sized rocks and pulverize them at 30-40 yards.

My advice is don't waste your money to try to make your AK sexy looking, if you have to have a flash hider, give a birdcage type a try, forget the Krinks !  I am going to order a new barrel nut and let it go at that..

I "fixed" a guys rifle one time that was having problems after adding a US made AK 74 style brake.  It was one of the cheap ones and it turns out he was having bullet strike issues.  Apparently the threds were not cut properly and it was mounting slightly crooked.

The gun was fine after the brake was removed.

I'm very happy with only having barrel nuts in my rifles.

Absolutely. Muzzle nuts are the only devices I use on my semi-auto 7.62x39 rifles due to the weird and inconsistent groups I've experienced with slants and other brakes.

Interesting thread - I've experienced the same, even with a slant brake as DRich said. I think I'll put the plain nut back on it and check results.

any comp or brake you put on the end will change POI, it's just a fact. Adjust your sites and move on.

While your statement is true, some muzzle devices provide more consistent results than others. In 20+ years and several hundred thousands of rounds, I've found the muzzle nut to be the best in that regard.

I like that muzzle nuts don't wobble.

maybe you'd have different results with one of those "overpriced" ones.  I have no problem banging steel off-hand at 200 yards with my AK47s and 74s, all of which have some form of the '74 style brake on them - pressed baffle, zigzag, my own US made one, etc.
