been looking at some 74's for sale. i am leaning towards a slg31 but then came across this AK74 i have not seen one of theses before. any pros anad cons between the two? i like the wood look on AKs. not really into the box it comes in. seams like ur paying more for something not needed.

If you could give me ur thoughts it would be great

thanks

from what I've read that company was started by people who previously worked for Lancaster Arms, who you should avoid like the plague. I haven't heard if they're good or bad though. Of the two choices I'd go with the Arsenal partly due to price and to the fact that Arsenal is a well known company.

I own an Arsenal SGL-31 and couldn't be anymore happier with it. That rifle got me interested in AKs again

thanks again for the heads up

If you like wood furniture, that's easily available to swap out.  From genuine high-dollar laminated Soviet never-installed wood to less expensive American made furniture, to used beater surplus from other countries.   With that in mind as well as the Lancaster connection, I'd say the SGL would be the better choice.

For my money, SGL 31. I don't like that they didn't even weld up the old trigger pin holes during the conversion. You could put a nice set of Ironwood Design (US) stock set in Soviet Laminate from Innovation Arms on it. I think it would be worth the extra money. Just watch your 922 US parts count if you use surplus wood sets.

I have the interarms:

And now I notice it doesn't have a scope rail mount any longer.  Other than that it is the same gun I have.

I have 800 or so rounds through it, not a single problem, the US made chrome lined barrel is just fine, and its plenty accurate.

*1 for the Arsenal and Atlantic will cut you a reduced price for being a member of Ar-15 . That is where I got my SGL31-61 then added a folding stock etc  and LOve it !! I added a the wood hand guard to my Krebs 103K carbine  and it was easy to do and am ordereing atleast a hand guard wood set for the 31  Innovation did the wood stockset  very reasonably!! Fac posted a report under Ak discusions about the wood set from Innovations couple days ago !! My set was ordered in deep mahogany and then I buffed the shiny finish with steel wool !  Check it out !

I would get the SGL-31 for that money or the SLR-105 that are back in stock at K-var.
