If you have the cash($1000-$2000)a polytech legend is exactly what you described and is viewed by some as good as it gets for an AK-47. The $1000 price gap is because they don't import them anymore so current owners ask what they want. I wouldn't pay more than $1500 unless its LNIB or NIB.

I am just getting started looking for my first AK. I am in definite need of assistance in understanding the different models/types and features. I love the classic look of the early Russian models with red hardwood furniture. I want a quality rifle that no one will scoff at and that will last a lifetime after the zombie apocalypse is over. And I need it to be legal in NJ. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for me? Basically, I am looking for a Jersey-legal version of this: http://www.redjacketfirearms.com/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/resized/Russian_Red_Clas_4dd162c1b1486_300x300.jpg Thanks for your help. |

Thanks for the help.
Unfortunately $1,500 is out of my price range. I was hoping for something around $750, so long as I can find quality at that price range. I gave Atlantic Firearms a quick review and they certainly have some nice looking AKs. They are a little more than I wanted to spend, but not entirely outside of what I would consider. I think I will give them a call. Are there any citizens of the Great Socialistic Commonwealth of New Jersey on this forum? I also need to understand what makes an AK Jersey legal. Obviously, the mag has to be pinned at 15 rounds and the muzzle device needs to be pinned and welded. Wood stock is no problem. Is there a bayo lug? I don't readily see one. And, how do you get around the naming because "Avtomat Kalashnikov type semi-automatic firearms" are expressly verboten. However, I see them all the time at the range. |
