Does anybody really use them? Is there really a practical reason for using one?

I've bought some thinking I was going to be using them, but there isn't really a point for fast mag changes for me personally. Things go slow enough in this small town as it is. Now when SHTF, i'd probably see more use outta em' . I still try to keep my mag changes under 5 seconds for practice(without clamps)

so you dont get sticky stuff on your mags from using tape? i just use electrical tape.

Maybe some blue tape like the Russians or the ever so popular green tape  for the "hallal" Afghans/Paki look

Because they are far more tacticool looking than duct tape or electrical tape

Too heavy and cumbersome.

I have 2 sets. Neat, would only be practical in a SHTF scenario IMO. I envision it's usefulness as 1st mag in rifle as synched together to get you to your stash. It is a tad heavy, not to mention bulky, but Zen can reload faster using single mags than I can using the synched. That being said, I never practice....

i have 2 of my 30 round mags taped with black duct tape........works well but heavy as hell.......i would not though purchase a mag clamp....i wouldnt actually spend money on it, just tape them together

I use tape but like the setup. Mag changes are quicker than anything.

You'd be better off spending time practicing changing magazines before you left cover (A/K/A "situational awareness")  than attempting high speed magazine changes out in the open, if you believe that some day someone might be shooting at you.

I have a couple sets of them that came with AK's I purchased. Novel idea til they are loaded up and hanging off your rifle.
Then it becomes apparent that they are very heavy and bulky.
I'd rather just to traditional style mag changes.
