| I'm stuck between a SGL21-61 ($740.00) in 7.62 or the SGL31-94 ($1,138.00) in 5.45. The 21-61 is a good deal...but the authentic Russian side folder would be sweet...but is it really worth the extra 400+? What would you guys do? |
| Apples to oranges, I think. I think you have to ask yourself whether a side folding stock is worth the extra money. If the rifle is going to be a safe queen, probably not. If you plan to use it for actual combat and plan to be getting in and out of vehicles with it, I suppose that's a different story. |
| Question: Do you think the thinner barrels on the SGL 21's are really an issue? Should I go for the 31 for the thicker barrel? It is kind of weak they decided on teh smaller caliber platform to host the larger caliber round without modification (in the AK 100 series) |

It's Arsenal that does the work here in the states.
The SGL is the newest pattern AK74 and laminate is technically not correct, it should roll with black polymer. However since laminate is really hot stuff and it's obvious why you would want it, you can use US made followers and floorplates in your mags to get 2 parts. With FCG (3), brake (1) and floorplates + followers (2) you'll be at 6 parts and GTG, that's what I do on my SGL's Z |

5.45 FWIW. Flatter, easier follow up, and just an awesome all around round IMO! In the new G&A Book of the AK I read a good article about how good the 5.45x39 shoots also in another article, how well it performed in war time with the Russians using it. I just can't wait to shoot mine.....delayed....justice also delayed....FuXX our worthless system. |
