Reworking the wood on my Poly spiker. I hated the blonde, I know I know.... I devalued it by touching it.
That aside, I like the color much better. I made the stain from food coloring and denatured alcohol. Several coats of tung oil and lots of buffing. I still haven't finished it, but I was getting antsy and wanted to see it put back together.
It looks different in different light... low light it looks black, and direct sun it appears orange/brown. I really love the way it came out.
The nice thing about the food coloring is, it doesn't mud up the grain. As you can see from the close up, the grain still pops out like it should.

I have a GSAD and looks exactly like that. I got it from a pawnshop for a low price.

hahaha... ya it's shiny now. I am not really done with it. I plan on steel wooling it a few more times to get the surface dead level and then I will buff the scratches out. I plan on it being a little less shiny when it's done.
