My Maadi build pops the casings out at 2'Oclock at 4-5 yards when firing at shoulder height. Is this normal? I'm asking cuz every now and then I get a FTE. The round will either lodge parallel with the gun and get pinched between the bolt and trunion, or will try to eject out the left side. I've had some get pushed so far out the left as to bend the top cover and get lodged between the top cover and receiver. I can't duplicate the problem or the ejection pattern by cycling the action by hand. Any ideas? |

ak's should kick empties way out forward and right. it was this very problem that led me to this site so many years ago. buy a new extractor and spring from kvar. and now the circle is complete, and i am free of my bondage ![]() Main spring? Is there another one inside the bolt assembly? I've never actually cracked that thing open. Are Egyptian extractor compatible with Romanians or any others? |
| My ejection patters depend on the gun. I have one SBR that kicks them out about 12-15 feet to 3 o'clock. Another flings them about 20 feet to my 4 o'clock. One thing you may want to check with your gun is that the ejector is poking through its slot in the bolt without too much play. I had a Yugo AK that had a little slop in its bolt travel. What this did is made it where as the bolt came back the ejector could be in a different position hitting the base of the case in a slightly different spot each time. The only problem with that was that occasionally it would only barely touch the rim causing weak ejection only a couple of feet to my right. Other shots would send the empties 20 feet or so. |
| I had the same problem with my Maadi except worse. With a lot of post's and pictures to a forum trial and error, someone told me about a problem with some Maddi's and bulged receivers. I was instructed to put the rifle in a fixed vise and squeeze little by little until I got most of the play out of the bolt sliding against the receiver. I know it sounds crazy, but several mentioned the same thing, so I wraped the receiver in a thin piece of leather glove and squeezed it. Got the slop out, and what do you know, went from jaming every other round to not a single jam. Call it what you want, but it worked. Look into it, it may have something to do with your problem. |

What is the width of a receiver supposed to be? I can measure mine with a mic when I get home if someone else can measure theirs... |

Two o'clock for mine. A good 15-20 feet. About the same for my SAM-7...I always try to get the farthest to the right spot on the range...otherwise I get all kinds of
