Are tapco products any good or should I stay away

depends on your preference. I personally don't like their style, but they sell a ton of stuff, so they must be decent....not a lot of help...

This depends on what you're looking to buy. The Tapco G2 is arguably the best US made AK trigger (some will disagree). I can't speak for their plastic stuff though as I don't like the looks of most of it.

I have converted a couple of rifles and used the G-2 trigger. I like them. There are some nicer more expesive adjustables. I also used the M-4 stocks. It is not Mil spec. I wouldn't think they would hold up well to butt stroking some one or the army butt to the ground while going to prone postion combat move. But I have shot skeet with my Saiga 12 and it hasn't broke yet. I like the SAW pistol grip also. My conclusion is they are decent lower end accessories.

As others have said, the G2 is a good trigger. Their sight adjustment tool works.
I bought a SAW grip. Put it on a rifle. Looked at it, held it, removed it. Not my style in appearance or feel.
YMMV

Yeah, but remember, The G-2 trigger was originally designed & built by Gerry Gordon. The same guy who built  some of the milled SLR 100 AK's that were quality builds. [G Tech] Tapco bought the rights from him to make the trigger, but had nothing to do with the design. So Tapco bought an existing quality product, & continue to sell it.  GARY  N4KVE

Depends on the product.  Some of it is just cheap plasticky crap.

Off the top of my head, I'd say stuff they make out of metal is alright.  Like the G2 trigger, muzzle devices, and maybe the sight tool.  But their AR stocks, magazines, etc are just crap.

I've got a lot of tapco products, most were purchased because I needed cheap 922r parts, others were purchased because I actually wanted it (like G2 triggers and AR receiver extensions). The quality is good for the price you pay, but when you hold most of their plastic parts it doesn't really feel like it's that good of quality. Being butt ugly doesn't help their plastic product lines all that well either.

I have their plastic stock parts on my MAK90, I do not like them but wanted the rifle to be 922r compliant, I do like the G2 trigger though, I have used it in a couple of my AK's and I like it better than the stock AK triggers.

I am currently trying to get wood back on my MAK.

I was in the same boat as far as the wood furniture goes....didn't like the plastic USA stuff, so I never converted over from the thumbhole stock....in fact never even took ti out at all in the last 15 years or so.  Finally got some wood off the "woodpile" section of the Ironwood site.  It's their seconds wood bin.  Got a nice set of wood for about $48 shipped.

G2 trigger is great. The 20 round magazine that came with my AMD-65 is great. A 30 round Tapco magazine I bought holds only 28 rounds, but works perfectly otherwise.

I am interested in their g2 trigger and gas piston for a AK47 build, do you know if there is anything better out there in terms of qualityor are they good to go?

I'm running the G2 single hook in my yugo RPK build and their gas piston. No issues at all, ever.

100% satisfied.

I've never heard of any issues with either of those and they ahve been available for years now, so you should be good to go.

Yes buddy of mine jnever had an issue with his Tapco stock.  I almost got it too but opted to get the GL-Shock for adjustable length of pull + felt recoil reduction and cheek piece.

Do not read if you plan to keep your AK stock and non-modernized.

An alternative to Tapco stock:
For those considering the Tapco stock (which my buddy never had a problem with) also consider the GL-Shock stock which has the same functionality and has 2 more (recoil  and cheek pad):

you can extend 4 more positions further than this and check out the cheek pad. It sits flush with stock when not is use or can be removed fully.

cheek pad up for great cheek weld.
