I was thinking of getting a SGL-21 for a very long time now. I actually have the money for it. But I can’t justified the cost of it! I been wishing for a sale like back in 2009 forever, but seem very unlikely now. The only real reason I want one is that it’s a “Russian” AK. I own a WASR-10 and Yugo M70, both Century and both have been excellent rifle. I don’t think a SGL will be anymore reliable, accurate, or function any better than my WASR. So am I right about this? Or should I suck it up and go ahead buying it!?
I have this absurd idea of buying a SGL-21 and one of those newer WASR-10 and testing both side by side to determine if there any real advantage to either. Or should I be a adult and spend that money on something more sane, like a new car or maybe finding a wife! I will shut the f#%k up now. |

honestly, you don't need $700 to find a wife. unless it's mail order or some GFE hooker... and i don't think $700 will keep her around very long. just spend some time exercising, maintaining good hygiene, and be friendly with them. don't try to bang them or seem over eager.
i think it's a no brainer. if you want the sgl, then get it. don't buy both an sgl and wasr though. seems silly. one or the other. wasr isn't a bad rifle though. sgl is more modern. both have advantages and disadvantages. |

Personaly, I wouldn't buy another WASR for the purpose of testing it against the Arsenal rifle. Use the one you have. The Arsenal won't be more reliable than your WASR. It probably won't be more accurate than your WASR. It will be NEW, and that's a good enough reason to buy one, especially since you've been thinking about buying one for a while. BTW: About the only thing you'll ever find that's more expensive than a hobby is a wife. |
| My advice is to do it...I love mine. I wanted an AK to add to my collection back in November (plus I could then lurk in this forum), and as I walked into the Scottsdale Gun Club I kept telling myself an AK is an AK is an AK. I remember saying, "Don't buy the Arsenal, stick to the WASR." That's much easier said than done when you have them side by side. I knew they both would go bang equally well, but damn it...the Arsenal is so much prettier. It's really not much of a contest when you can look at them both and see the obvious with your own eyes. I had the money for either the WASR or SGL, needless to say, I spent the $750 on an SGL 21-66 (the railed model) and haven't looked back since. It's a great rifle that shoots far more accurately than I ever expected to see from an AK. |
