what yr would you say its from is there a way to tell from the markings?

yea i was just reading that. dam one nib sold on gunbroker for $2.200 now i don't wanta fire it. lol... Yours is ealier than that, look at the slim smooth sided grip. If you'd like to sell it (grip that is) I'll gladly supply a NOS checkered one. 44 |

you have an early production Poly Tech Double UF that was made at factory 416.
your serial would start with PFyy-762-xxxx. P - means that it was made at Factory 416. F - means that it's an under-folder model. yy - would be the year it was made. 762 - means that it was chambered in 7.62x39mm. xxxx - is the last four digits of your serial number. |

The factory used the same block of wood for the pistol grip as they did with the handguards. I've got photos somewhere taken inside one of the factories showing the handguards and pistol grips being cut and used for the same rifles. They're kind of special because of being matched. |

yea thinking about getting rid of it and getting a ak that i could have fun with. it was made in 1985
I wouldn't fire that honestly...I would just flip it for double or triple what you paid. I love those old Chinese AK's, but I would sell that in a heart beat and pocket some cash. Then buy a nice cheaper AK and blast away. |
| Buy that gun. Take it to the range and be the one to fire the first shot. Use it and enjoy it. If you keep in in good shape, it will still be worth plenty. The value of owning it and enjoying it is worth more than the increased value of keeping it NIB-. That's just my .02 of course... |

I'd just shoot it and take care of it. A SCAR and this AK are worlds apart. I can't really see anyone with something like a SCAR thinking any AK is a big deal, rare preban or not. The only people who will give you what that AK is worth is an AK collector. |

| I can't believe I'm saying this but if I were you I think I would keep it and not shoot it. I'm one that normally says a rifle needs to be shot, but that rifle you have is a rare find in perfect condition. How does your ex feel about this deal if she knows? It sounds like the dad had taking a liking to you. Congrats on a great deal. Also, if a dieing man gives me a good deal on a pristine AK, I think I would keep it. The rifle has a lot of value, but now it has character to plus it is a physical marker to a period of your life. My .02. |

My .02. i here you on this one. shes knows what it was. see i was real close to getting hitched with her. untill she got hook on zanez. he knew i was a hard worker and her little kids loved me. i hadn't talked to her for 4yrs untill facebook she contacted me and told me about her dads cancer and he needed $$$$ and she knew i loved guns. she said he had alot of weapons for sale. see if he goes his wife doesn't know sqat about guns as well as anybody in the family. so the X wants me to sell off the guns for the family. and i'll tell you this there will be alot of ads on here for some very rare guns if he goes. i lost count of the rare knifes and guns this guy owns. aleast 1.200 pieces.so i told her i would do it and not get paid a red cent except i get a couple of the guns of my choice. she said whatever it takes. its a family of women not one man to help them. heck even his gun safes are rare. i'll be that guy. |

Nice rifle. i don't get it. whats not right? I like to space between pics. You are doing something that puts your pics to the right instead of nice column. I have to arrow to the right to see your pics. Not a big deal though. Again, nice AKs and don't you dare sell that underfolder. If you do you will live to regret it. I would like to have the SLR 95 back that I sold for $300.
