Can anyone give me a value range for the gun described and pictures below? Considering purchasing. Thanks!
"Bulgarian stocks. This is a fully converted Saiga/AK, except for muzzle brake. It uses AK mags, AK furniture- no more Saiga stuff on it except the barrel, trunnion, receiver, and bolt carrier. That's a wooden grip for a milled receiver AK I put on it too- not your standard $5 Tapco grip. That's a $35 AK grip. There's nice stuff all over the rifle- I built it to keep, so I put nice stuff on it. The butt has been stripped and refinished about 5 times by me before I settled on the current look- wood stain, Rit dye, and food coloring, then about 15 coats of Formbys Tung oil finish, steel-wooled between coats. Same with the front lower, and the upper is a mint Russian upper handguard, not refinished; that's a $20 upper. The lower was a Romanian G that I cut the handle off; I have other wood sets here if you prefer, with the G handle (the one that is a vertical lower grip). Wolff +15% recoil spring in place of original- keeps rifle a bit more level when firing." http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/rr248/toledo321/DSC03025.jpg http://i488.photobucket.com/albums/rr248/toledo321/DSC03033.jpg |

Honestly? I wouldn't pay more than $480 for it because it still needs work.
Looks almost the same as mine, but I went with the threaded barrel, front sight post with detent, refinished the entire rifle, and welded all the extra holes shut. If I were to list mine for sale, I'd put a $600 asking price and ship it to the first guy who offered me $500. |

It's kind of hard to give a price on a restored/converted weapon without the details that are going to be important to those that know a little. So, here are a few questions.... 1- Does it have a bullet guide and how is it fastened? 2- Why did you change the spring? 3- How many rounds fired? 4- Is it reliable? 5- Of what origin is the lower handguard retainer? 6- Does it have a stepped chamber? 7- Did it have grooves for the handguard retainer from the factory? 8- Are threads under the sleeve on the muzzle? 9- What does it come with? 10- Is the underside of the receiver still unfinished like the last pic? |

1. yes and screwed down I believe.
2. Dont know why 3. about 500 4. supposed to be 5. dont know much about this but seller mentioned something about it being bolted together 6. dont know what that is or if it does 7. dont know 8. I think the sleeve has been removed and no 9. the mag and a leather sling 10. yes it is Is there any reason I cant shoot it like it is forever? Thanks for the help! |

Coversion holes are not welded, gas block and front sight are original Saiga, and have no bayo lugs. Receiver looks like shit and needs to be welded up and refinished. The pistol grip is nothing special, and the handguards are mismatched/hacked up. The muzzle isn't threaded, and there are no provisions to attach a muzzle device. Does it have a bullet guide riveted into place? It looks like a quickie conversion, and I wouldn't give more than $400 for it. In fact, I'd probably buy a WASR over someone else's "project" if it didn't look like they knew what they were doing. | ^^ That was a bit harsh, but true. I don't know if I'd take a WASR over someone else's project though because the time it takes to find a WASR that isn't a piece of shit is a project all on it's own. Another thing worth mentioning is that the Saiga pictured isn't 922(r) compliant. I doubt anyone will ever check, but technically it's illegally configured. |

Honestly mate I'd do these things. 1.Replace the Gasblock and fsb. It's obvious your trying to do a akm clone and the current one doesn't match. 2.Thread the muzzle for a slant brake. 3. Change out the butt stock and upper and lower hg,s you can pick up Russian repro wood at Centerfire systems for about 60.00 bucks. Or if you wanna pay the shipping costs look on Ebay. There are dealers in the Ukraine who are selling brand new Rusky wood sets for ak's 4.Plug up whatever holes you have. Honestly if it was done all the way I'd say 600 is good. If you buy it do the above and you will have a nice rifle :) |
