I recently purchased an Arsenal SGL21-62 through K-Var and am very happy with it. I'm setting it up as a working SHTF weapon. I've added an UltiMak with an Aimpoint T-1 and a Blue Force Gear Vicker's Combat Applications Sling. Have I missed anything that I need to add?

I'm also looking at a SKD Eagle AK47 Chest
Rig, 3 Mag

Not that I'm not a fan of the brake, I just find the FH more useful for 'work'. Brake is great for the range though.

Supressors are the best FHs though.... good for 'work' as well.

+1 for the FH for work. Nice chest rig.

Nevermind all of the below suggestions.... I forgot you have 24x1.5 threads. I hear the cone units work well (krink type), but have never used one at night. Just make it simple and get a good can I think Redstick makes a nice one for 24x1.5. I need one for my 107UR. Let me know how you like it.

The Yankee Hill Machine 'Phantom style' works good. I have one and flash looks smaller than the spark from a lighter.

AAC would be nice.... and ready for the nice AAC can you are going to get

Nevermind the AAC.... I thought they were AK freindly... they're not.

Maybe a Smith Vortex, but the YHM is the best for the buck.

Aluminum or stainless?

Stainless would be stronger, of course. Whatever you want to spend really, but you may as well get what you want the first time.

I found a 24x1.5 FH ..... here

It's about 1/6th down the page. These are supposed to work well.... one of the best 24x1.5 FHs. I need a couple too.

Do you mean the: AK74 Screw on Krinkov (Krink) Style Compensator ?

Those are nice and great quality. Yep.... probably will be near $100 with shipping. You only live once.....

For a flash suppressor, go with the Smith' Vortex and never look back.. or regret it. Spend the money once.. and ONLY once

I've seen people use them on 16" barrels.

So if I add the Krinkov flash hider will I have the perfect working AK as far as accessories go? Nobody else has made any suggestions or disagreed with the FH recommendation.

There is a slotted Bulgarian reproduction flash hider that is supposed to work well too.... maybe better than the 4 piece. Cheaper too.... around $40. I found one earlier, but can't remember where it was.

Yes. I think the addition of a FH will just about do it. You don't really want a lot of stuff hanging off of your 'scat' weapon. You may need to employ it from a vehicle too. Less is more.... unless you decide to get a can.

BTW     Pics?

From what I have heard on the boards, the four piece can is the best FH there is.  The cone inside isupposedly the reason why this works so well.  Kills the flash.  Not just dividing it into 4 or 5 stripes.

While the Vortex is good at flash suppression I hate the prong style FHs.  The original M16 debuted with a prong flash suppressor and was quickly changed to the banded type.  Two reasons was the fact that they tend to catch on every vine, branch and twig they come close to, and the fact that the prongs have a tendency to get bent.

So, while the Smith Vortex may be a sturdy, qualilty piece that does its job of killing flash it would probably be my last choice for a working, SHTF, rifle.  Other's opinions will of course differ.

Remember the purpose of a FH.  As long as it directs and reduces the flash in such a way that it doesn't affect your night vision when firing at night it has done its job.  So, basically any suppressor that allows you to shoot at night, or other low light conditions, without seeing or being aware of the muzzle flash, it has done its job.  I don't worry about quantifying the total amount of reduction.  It either does its job or it doesn't.  Many of the less expensive FHs do just fine, IMO.

That looks excellent. You have added pics and a muzzle device..... I hereby deem your 'working AK' ..... complete. If you get a chance to shoot it at night, let us know how well the FH works.

.... but now..... I have to pic up a couple of those for my 107URs. It never ends.....

And if it did end, we'd all be very sad.  Great stick, OP.  A am really interested in a couple of 5.45 AKs and Saiga is at the top of my list.  Seems like they are not a gamble whereas WASR may be.

You might want to re-think that Bulgy 4 piece FH.  It is designed to be used on SBR's (krinks).  It increases backpressure in the gas system to ensure reliability from shorter barrels.  It will over gas your rifle and increase wear.  This is more appropriate:CNC Warrior Bulgarian 24mm Birdcage FH

Well.... what's the difference between running a Bulgy 4 piece and say.... running a can.... or having a 20" barrel? Do people put bushings in their ports to compensate when using a can and is the port on a 20" barrel smaller than the port on a 16"?
