| ...by my friends 11 year old daughter. I have a new 7.62 AK that I had fired on one previous range trip, and had sighted it in at 25 yards. Never shot it any further than that yet. So today we set up at the rifle range and his little pre-teen Annie Oakley was trying out the AK. Sitting at a bench with no rest (she used the 30-round mag as a mono-pod to stabilize the rifle) the little devil put her first shot into a 2" bullseye at 100 yards. I couldn't believe it. I thought this had to be luck, but she kept putting things on target. Dang! Then she picked up a Mosin Nagant 7.62x54R and was on target at 100 yards with that too. Both the AK and the Mosin had standard iron sights. I shot the Mosin later (what a hoot!), but those things are not .22's. They certainly let you know when you pull the trigger on them. And here we had an 11 year old sharpshooter with one. I have some pacticing to do, that's for sure! |
| Women actually are built better for shooting than men. They are also steadier. One of my best friends just got back from Fort Benning Saturday where he was attending the World Games as the factory armorer for Anschutz and Walther. He was once again amazed how good of shots some of them were. Men have to work at being that good, where as some females come by it naturally. |

Young eyes and steady nerves, especially compared to some of us 40+ guys. Agreed! I'm 44 and while still very capable, my eyes are not what they were 20 years ago. The hands arent as steady as they used to be either and when you combine those two it can make a noticeable difference. |
