Search Lancaster here and over on AKfiles and you will get you answer
From the Lancaster site:
NOTICE: AK74 Barrel issues There has been problems with some barrels installed in AK 74 rifles built by Lancaster. We now have a good feel for the cause and scope of the problem. Below is an explanation of the problems and the actions we are currently taking to correct them. Problem 1: Oversized gas hole. Some AK 74 barrels we incorrectly drilled to a larger then spec gas hole. This leads to backward movement of the rear trunion, resulting in the dust cover coming loose and disfigure rear trunion rivets. We have retrieved the majority of these rifles and replaced the barrels with the correct gas port specification. If any of these symptoms are present please contact us for inspection and barrel replacement Additionally we have made arrangements with a new barrel manufacture for our AK 74 line of rifles. Problem 2: Key-holing Our former barrel manufacture provided us with some barrels that were out of spec. ( Rifling or bore, was not cut to correct specifications ) To date, we have only had to replace a small number of these barrels However, anyone experiencing this problem should contact us for a barrel replacement. The AK 47 rifles and barrels are not affected. Our apologies for any inconvenience to our customers. We will repair or place any of our products at no cost to our customers. We stand by our products with a limited life time warranty regardless if it is convenient or not. Best Regards, Chet Durda Lancaster Arms |
| I would stay away from Lancaster. The customer service is abysmal. Spend a tad bit more, and get yourself an Arsenal. They look pretty, but aren't worth the money. My old Saiga was much smoother and better built. The Russian Red finish on the rifle is also very fragile. It's not so much a stain as it's painted on. My finish is literally flaking off at points. I avoid them like the plague. I'd rather take my chances with Century Arms. |
| In my opinion Chet Durda is a Con men. When a person sells a product and keeps the money for 6 month or more and does not deliver the product you ordered and already paid for that is in my book a person that scams there customers. Besides all the issues with the Rifles they have been selling and where they now admit to them being defective (still waiting for the Recall on those) they are also very dishonest when it comes to dealing with there Customers. So yes stay away from them purchase another product but do not spend you $$$ on anything that has a Lancaster name associated with you will regret it. Mak has already posted the majority of those Threads about Lancaster read them you will see how bad it is. Also look that the BBB rating they have. |

We have been working with Lancaster since the started up and they have been getting much better with quality control and customer service. We try to back up our rifles with a unstated program , basically we let the customers have a 7 days firing inspection , if there is a legitimate issue we will be glad to pay to have the rifle shipped back to us and we will replace the rifle , refund the money or move the customer into another rifle. We do not belive that the customers should have to loose any money on a defective product right out of the box. We also like to know if a customer has to send a product back for warranty repair and what the problem was with the unit , we will assist in telling them who to contact and what to say to make it a quick & easy return. http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=120126 http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=115842 http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=118421 http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=117039 http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=103541 http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=124188 http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=124558 http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=8&f=13&t=380480 http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65868 http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64048 |

Just my opinion. |
| Here's mine from the ammo section I thought it was an ammo problem. It wasn't and the rifling was shot out in less than 100 rounds. 150 rounds 83 keyholes including the last 53. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=54&t=125599 In answer to your original questions the answer is YES. |
