No love for this thread in GD, so I'm putting it here...

SLR 107UR + $200 + 3 month wait + some gunsmithing=

Before:

After:

In case you were wondering, you MUST remove the FSB, and drill out a bushing installed to lower the pressure created by the longer time curve provided by the 16 inch barrel.  Otherwise, your SBR would be a single shot.

It was hard to get a photo, but you can see its remains after the drill bit got enough of it to break it loose.  (appears to have been press fit)

So, you drilled a hole through the bottom of the FSB?

Love the look of the finished product, only thing I would do is get rid of the pistol grip and put something else on there.

Looks great. I like the standard AK grip myself.

Insert Robocop FAP-FAP animated .GIF file here...

I admit, I like the Russian AKSU-74 look the best, red wooden foregrip furniture, red bakelite magazine, and the conical booster flashider, but I sure as hell wouldn't kick that Bulgy out of bed for eating crackers.

Looks better after for sure.

It's always there...  That's how the port was drilled in the first place.   It's not on 'standard' AKs, because the port can be drilled at a slant through the gas block.  For a Krink style block, it's vertical and cannot be drilled any other way.

Congratulations on getting it SBR'd, they are much much more fun that way.

Did you have to thread the front sight post for the muzzle brake?

GD is the place where even decent things can turn into a halestorm of fire and brimstone, with complimentary stoning by fellow members. So I understand your post here.

As to the 107, it looks fantastic, and I still dream of Arsenal making that rifle a full production rifle, instead of the "limited" production. You did a good job, and as long as it functions 100%
as AK's should, all is well......

Sir, please.

Before you toss that bushing.  Would you do me a huge favor and measure its internal diameter with a pair of calipers (if you have them)?

The before and after gas port dimensions would be great info to have as well.

Many thanks, and if it's not possible I completely understand.

And yes.... it looks a lot better.

-Sfx

ETA - never mind on the ID of the bushing.  If it was drilled out, it's not going to be the same as it was.  DOH!  Any dimensional info would be great though.

Looks awesome!  Don't change a thing.  A Kobra or PK-A would be a great addition though.

It should be right at 3.5mm, thats the standard size for the 107UR bushing IIRC. Mine looked the same though I didn't measure it.

My private place tingles!  I want one.

SBR is legal here in SC.  I guess I'll just have to get me one then huh?

Damn you people, now I'll never get to go to Disney Land!

No, the FSB is a standard 24mm threaded piece.  What you see in the original pic is simply a thread protector that comes with it...
