Which do you think is better for a 7.62x39 AK? The slant break or the later 74 style break?

I have a 74 style on mine now, but that was mostly because it looked cooler. Guess I should take both to the range and see if there's any real difference.

Another +1 for the slant brake. The USA made 74 brake is loud and heavy.

slant for authenticity, 74 style to cut down recoil. Used one on my yugo 308 RPK years back and it was awesome. I'm totally sold on the design, it does make it louder though.

I run an A1 flash-hider on all my AKs except my Tantal which came with a 74 brake and is a unique design.

I prefer a flash hider over a brake but that's just me...

The rifle gets a nice deep BOOM with the 74 brake, and recoil is less compared to the slant brake.

74-style brake (krebs) on my 7.62x39 keeps the muzzle FLAT. The difference is amazing.

The JTAC-47 on my other 7.62x39 is pretty good as well.

Can't have flash hiders here in CA

and just an FYI, the slant break only really works on F/A weapons, otherwise it's kinda useless.

To get the most effectiveness from a 74 brake it needs to be an exact copy of the original. Not all of the copies available are.

74 brake (true 24mm style) cuts recoil down quite a bit.

My opinion, the slant brake works, kind of, the AK74 works better but is loud epeciallly on the sides.
Most intiguing is the GoGun Talon Brake which is supposed to be soft and quiter, also can be used as a breacher in emergencies.
they have video of one on AR but not not sure if it works as well on AK, it should be similar. Looks WAY cool, that's for sure.
