Can the Arsenal SAM-7R with the NATO buttstock accept a side folding stock easily? Or does something need to be cut or added to the rear trunion?

Still an AK newbie, but getting better......

Thanks,

Which side folder?

Most folders are for stamped receivers  and the SAM-7 is milled if I remember correctly.

They can probably be made to work but you had better have access to a machine shop. BSW

This one .....http://arsenalinc.com/sam7sfc.htm

And its off a milled receiver. I have no machine shop, but would hope a good AK smith could do the work...

If you can find that side folder I'd bet it's a simple install. The hard part is going to be getting one.

Try the EE here, gunbroker.com, and the usual suspects.

Good luck. BSW

That Bulgarian side-folding stock that you see on the Arsenal SAM-7SF and SAM-7SFC will not fit on a standard SAM-7, SAM-7S, or SAM-7R without some modification. You would have to remove at least the lower stock tang, and probably the upper tang too. Plus, Arsenal AK's with that Bulgarian side-folding stock have specially milled receivers to hold the latch on the right-hand side, where the stock locks when it is folded. Look at the picture closely. There is a special latch in the right-hand side lightening cut.

Where have you found a stock like that for sale?

You could use an Ace folding Skeleton stock but either way tangs are gonna have to be removed; the bottom for the external receiver block and both for an internal receiver block
