I have been on the Ar side for awhile, and before i got my AR-15 i was a die hard ak fan. I just recently got back into ak's and want to shoot mine somtime soon. I dont remember what groups i got at what distances because it was so long ago, and i only did it a couple of times to see what it would do, I mostlu just plinked with them. I remember i was happy with the accuracy at 200 yards and 100.

Can you guys post your pics of targets? and tell us what rifle and ammo you used? A pic of the rifle would be nice, who doent want some AK porn!

Im kinda taking this away from the guy in the presision rifles forum..."we seen your long range setups.... now lets see your target."

The 5.45 AKs hit paper pretty well

I posted this yesterday:

Today i had the opportunity to shoot at a friend's range, that went out to 200 yards.  I verified the distances/targets w/ a Bushnell range finder and they were precise.  I measured the groups from the middle of the furthest shots, thus i did not avg the group.  The T-1 was pretty difficult shooting out to 200 yards, but displayed very nice results.  These were not my best groups, but about the avg of the bunch.  I was not on top of my game, but the day went pretty well
Edit:  I was shooting from a bench, using the magazine as a rest.  No sandbags

Ammunition - Bulgy surplus  10/86

Tantal:  Aimpoint CompC3 2x  1MOA

Zero'ed @ 25 yards

100 yards:  3inches  and 4 inches high of bullseye

200 yards:  10 shots - 7 of the 10 were w/in 4.75 inches.......... 6 of the 10 were w/in 3.5 inches............. 8 inches high of bullseye

AKS-74u: Aimpoint  T-1  4MOA

Zero'ed @ 25 yards

100 yards:  4 1/8 inches  and 2.5 inches high of bullseye..................... 3 of 5 were w/in 1.25 inches

200 yards:  6 7/8 inches and slightly high of bullseye....................

10rds rapidfire @ 200 yards w/ krink.........Target was 13inches tall and 9 inch wide............. hit 8 out of 10

AMD-65 at 100. Wolf Mil Classic HP. Rear sight on '1', adjusted POI with front sight. I had the sling strung around the butt pad which gave me a 'sort of' cheek rest. The target is an 8" ball. I was basically satisfied with this, but changed out the barrel extension/brake (two piece) for a one piece Tapco, so I'll go back and verify at some point. I took this picture after making that change. I didn't keep track of groups - I'll have to be more careful next time, but the target represents shots fired after the last adjustment.

Quick comparision of Wolf and the Hungarian MFS,I sighted in with Wolf at 50 yards then shot a three round group of both types at 100 yards, the shooting was done with my Hungarian SA85 build with iron sights.

I can shoot sub 1 MOA groups with my AK while standing at 300 yards, but my camera is broken.

Mine is but I dont have any target pics handy. Perhaps you just have a bad bore, copper buildup or a bad crown?

Here she be.

This is an NHM91 that I cut down. It was in SAD shape. The end of the barrel was damaged from the previous owner firing a round behind a squib. The finish was covered in rust from storing it in a foam case.

She has a heavy Barrel thats short, this baby shoots

Cut down to 16.5"and recrowned the barrel (last 3" of the barrel was damaged)
Refinished in semigloss Alumahyde II
Turned the heavy barrel down to accept an AK74 FSB
Cleaning Rod
Arsenal 7.62 AK74 Brake
Blue/Grey E. German Sling
Tapco G2 Trigger (I will be Installing a RSA, but funds are tight for now)
Polished Action, and FCG
Russian Rear Sight
K-Var U.S. Plum Warsaw Length Stock Set
Plum Bulgy 30 Round Magazine (with El Cheapo Paracord Pulls)

Im waiting for a bayonet, I still have to install a side rail and a PK-AS red dot.

Target: 2 1/4" plates bolted together.
Range 27 yards (afraid to get any closer)
Bullets: IMI copper jacket 123 grain FMJ (close copy of the Yugo bullet) my load 22.5 grains AA1680 crater: 2.5 mm
Wolf Black Box, FMJ crater: 6 mm
Silver Bear, HP crater: 8 mm
WMC, FMJ crater: 8 mm
Chinese steel core, headstamp 31/71 crater 11 mm Note: small hole in first plate when I unbolted them.
Note: Plate was simply laid against the berm at about a 10 degree angle. The plate moved when hit, which absorbed some energy and reduced penetration, I'm sure. I'll do better when I find the 1/2" plate.

Well done Poly!  Thx for the pic and info  Can't wait for more results!!

Thanks my friend. I like to think of her as a "rescued" rifle, she was neutered before importation, then abused and neglected. I did all I could to save her.

Norinco MAK90

Both are at 50 yards. The lower target was readjusting after removing the red dot. The top top is slow fire (I count one round per second). Wolf MC FMJ fired seated at a bench while resting the rifle on my left fist with that on a 4"x4" block of wood.
