what is the folding mecanisim for the stock of the RPKS? http://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt324/xp41007/rpks.jpg a folding trunion? and how would i go about converting a stock AES-10b to this configuration? but i would much rather go the non gunsmithing path...or the least amount as possible. i'll find a way to make it look pretty im not lazy, i just dont want to permenently screw up my favorite rifle. thanks in advance |

Here are some factors you should consider:
The rear trunnion is very rare and requires permenent modifications to the receiver, once intalled you can, practically speaking, never install a normal stock again A standard stamped RPK stock will require heavy modifications, might be better off starting with a stock for a milled RPK if the correct stock cannot be pruchased/found Substantial machining is required on the receiver in order to get the rear trunnion fit "right". The angle the trunnion needs is not in full degrees, but half degrees. Average machine shop fixtures only rotate in full degrees, finding a place to machine in half degrees is not difficult, however is not cheap either. A support block will need to be made to fit the inside of the receiver to allow stable machining. Expect to pay several hundred dollars for this machine work at the cheapest, $300 would not be out of line All said and done, after purchasing parts, paying for machine work and rivet work, expect to pay $600-700 for this at a minimum You can mimic the Romanian take on an RPKS with the purchase of a $120 folding push button Romy stock and fit it with a $15 bastard file. No mods to the RPK are needed and a normal stock can be dropped in when ever desired. Either way, best of luck on which ever you choose. |

it is essentially the K-var folding stock extension block, but inside the receiver. That is, the latch is on the rear, not the front. I have the drawings for it, and some good photos, but I am hoping to find a way to modify the block and attach it under a standard trunion with the tab cut off.
