Okay,

Both myself and a buddy of mine came home with very similar AK’s.  Mine is an Arsenal/Saiga AK-103, which is all Russian.  His is a “parts” gun, but appears to be well built with good parts (Tapco G3 FCG, Nodak Spud receiver, etc).  He noticed that to sight his in, he had to move is front sight all the way to the left.  I told him that is usually because the front sight base is canted a bit to the right, and we confirmed that during lunch.

Okay, so what’s the treatment for this?  The barrel is pinned into the trunion; was it pinned in incorrectly?  (I mean, the cutouts for the sight and trunion “should” be idiot-proff, shouldn’t they?)

Is it possible to put a front sight base on canted?  Don’t they mount with tapered pins that “center” when you put them in?

Any help would be appreciated.  I did a search but the links just lead me back to the title page and not the actual thread; not sure what's up with that.

That's pretty straight forward; thanks for the tip.

Parts Needed:
1/8th diameter wooden/steel dowel rod (any length over a foot will do fine, I recomend using steel rods for the FSB) (Note: If you are installing a threaded FSB you must use steel)
1/8th drill bit

Where would wooden pins be acceptable?

Oh come on, he's talking about using oak, not bulsa wood.  Should be fine.  Yeah I read that a while ago and it amde me loose some confidence in that web site.
