Well at a gunshow I briefly held a full auto milled type 56 and I thought it felt heavier then my milled vector or maybe it could have been me. But alot of sites list the milled AK47 being 9.5 pounds but no way does my vector weigh 9.5 pounds. Is it possible the military ones use a more hefty reciever then the civilian ones?

How about I move this to the AK forum, as the AR Discussion forum really isn't really the right place.

i dont know about milled, but the stamped norincos (mac 90s and id assume 56's) use a thicher reciever.  If you just comparing semi to full auto, then you feeling the auto sear and your senses are insanely keen.

Could a sear add that much weight to the gun

No, but thicker receivers make a palpable difference when you charge the weapon, making a 1.6mm stamped receiver feel better than a 1.0mm
