Bought a Polytech Legend that an old guy, original owner, bought and put up and never fired. I recived it today and it had alittle surface rust around butplate screws but other than that it was perfect. I paid 1300 shipped and insured, how did I do? I will try to get pics. up ASAP.

In today's market you did extremely well.  If this were a few months ago, I'd say you got it for a very fair price.  Good job!

And yes, you better post some pics.  Preferably not with a crappy cell phone camera either.

Fixed. Have to say, AK47's have just an edge on AKM's in the sexy department. I bet that stump would have made some beautiful wood with all the swirling before it was shot up.

Nice rifle!  Now get that AK74 muzzle break off and a muzzle nut on; replace that sling with a Chinese sling!

Thanks for fixin the pics. This rifle had not even had the sling on it when I got it. The pics. really don't do it justice, its in perfect shape and the guy said he never fired it.

needs more bayonet (looks like a type 1)

Type 1? Please explain and where can I get a proper bayonet for this rifle?

Do you see how the bayonet shown in the above photo is a bit different than the common AK bayonets you see (Romanian, etc.)?  The one shown above is for the "old school" milled receiver rifles and they're unique due to the way they are afixed to the barrel.  Since your front sight base not neutered as it's a pre-ban rifle, any first-type bayonet will mount on and lock into place.  For those folks that have post-ban and later rifles that may have neutered front sight bases, they're missing the two little bayonet lug "nubs" on it next to the end of the cleaning rod.  A bayonet will afix to it but won't lock onto the barrel.  In other words, it can be pulled on and off with have to pull out the release mechanism on the bayonet.  Big deal - very few of us are going to require the bayonet be solidly locked on to the barrel.

Depending on whether you want a Chinese, Russian, or Bulgarian one for your rifle, it may be easy or difficult to find.  For your rifle, you need a Chinese one - preferrably an original Polytech bayonet with a matching colored wooden handle.  Definately a tough call but watch the auctions and the sales boards as they do come up infrequently.

If having the original bayonet isn't a big deal and you just want a blade on the rifle, a Bulgarian or Russian one will also work.  Some Bulgarian ones sold fairly recently on another forum.  Here's a link to a Bulgarian one that's decently priced:
