Apparently you never saw this one from a couple of months ago - Russian 40rd bakelite magazine in 7.62mm:

the guy must run with some serious gun nerds...

I could show that to anybody I know and they would not even care.

One like that sold for over $500.00 last summer. Gunbroker. It may still be in the archives. Can you imagine? I salute people who are that committed to their passion.

So this may be a new record. If the buyer is for real.

ROFL, I read that thread when it posted, both buyers are complete tool sheds

I would never pay near that amount, but the 40 round bakelights are a rare bird for sure.

40 rnd bakelites are near impossible to find. As for the rare chinese BHO mag...I never saw a chinese w/ a rib on the back.....

Its an AK thing. AR collectors would not understand.

Seriously, though. I have a AK mag collection and it is definitely not cheap to collect all the different variants.

The only similar thing is collecting an original Armalite AR waffle mag and they go for $400 plus.

Do you understand that a type 81 is not an AK, and has never been imported?

Whats a Russian 5.45 coffin mag go for?

Ah, but they do exist.  At least in two forms - standard Chinese style but with a spine on the back and technically the "Sino-Soviet" magazine with the "Factory 66" stamp on the back:

No one knows because they have never been imported. If you got one lets see some pics.

We're all learning stuff - that's what the forum is for.  I think a very uncommonly difficult steel magazine to find would be a Chinese 30rd magazine in 5.45x39mm or an ultra-uber, unobtanium-level impossible North Korean 30rd magazine in 5.45x39mm for the Type 88.
