I have been hitting YouTube today and looked up videos for Chechnya
The city of Grozny reminds me of pictures of Berlin after World War II - The bad weather and harsh conditions that the Russian troops were in reminds me of how reliable and hard core the Ak platform really is and what it can handle. Same climate and conditions that would choke and M16 I remember reading when I was on active duty a briefing of how the then regular "Soviet" infantry were taught to live off the land if need be and have the ability to move without stopping for or relying on re-supply. But then again these are the same people who took 300,000 casualties in taking just Berlin in World War II = HARDCORE |

| Given Soviet doctrine, living off the land wouldn't have been feasiable for their troops, the forests and countryside couldn't sustain the large numbers of soldiers that would need fed. Cities would have been far worse, as about the only indiginous species to be found in large numbers are rats and Humans. |
