Anyone recommend a good lacquer brand to finish off their WASR furniture?

Thanks.

Choobie, I guess that's an option...but right now it's just stained. I'd like to put a little semi-gloss to make it look a little nicer and protect it a bit.

I'll figure something out.

i used a minwax semi gloss and brushed it on.. it looks decent.. I recomend you get the spray style to limit drips which i had to work on..

For honest-to-God lacquer, Lowe's carry a good brushing lacquer.
I "think" I remember it coming in a gloss, satin-gloss, and possibly a flat.
It's brushing ONLY, not spray-able.

Otherwise, a good Minwax polyurethane in a Satin finish looks "right" on the AK.  Gloss is too shiny, and flat looks "wrong".

To brush poly on, use a good brush and thin it with about 3% to 5% mineral spirits to improve brushing without "pulling" the already drying poly.

I used Deft lacquer from Lowe's on my last stock.  Sand it with 0000 steel wool between coats, and it turns out reeeal smooth.

I've used Cabot brand aerosol lacquer on an AK magazine and some Colt Cobra stocks.  Works great.  You can recoat in 2 hours, IIRC.  It takes a few days for it to get nice and hard.

It reeks though and gave me a nasty headache until I wised up and bought a respirator.

Ok got three coats of Minwax on, looks pretty nice...but how long 'til it dries well? There is a little stickiness to it after 24 hours of drying.

I am tempted to steel wool or sand it, but maybe I'll be patient a little longer.

I let my Colt stocks sit for a week before I attached them.  The lacquer was plenty hard at that point.  Give it a few days.  Just hang them out of the way and revisit after election day.
