Anyone recommend a good lacquer brand to finish off their WASR furniture?
Thanks. |

For honest-to-God lacquer, Lowe's carry a good brushing lacquer.
I "think" I remember it coming in a gloss, satin-gloss, and possibly a flat. It's brushing ONLY, not spray-able. Otherwise, a good Minwax polyurethane in a Satin finish looks "right" on the AK. Gloss is too shiny, and flat looks "wrong". To brush poly on, use a good brush and thin it with about 3% to 5% mineral spirits to improve brushing without "pulling" the already drying poly. |

I've used Cabot brand aerosol lacquer on an AK magazine and some Colt Cobra stocks. Works great. You can recoat in 2 hours, IIRC. It takes a few days for it to get nice and hard.
It reeks though and gave me a nasty headache until I wised up and bought a respirator. |

I use real lacquer as well - tung oil is okay, but just doesn't have that . .. je ne sais quoi
