there tons of threads on here about what AK to get. A lot depends on how much u want to spend. they start at 400 all the way past 1500. if ur thinking 400 price range try aim surplus or henderson. also check over on the EE on this forum.

You could get a wasr but you should check in person for canted front site and mag wobble they run about 400 and if you can find a yugo I would get one they run about 500. I have three of them and they are on par with the better aks. Mine all have wood furniture and I see they are getting almost impossible to get. If you can order through a dealer go online to Alantic firearms or Henderson Defense. I myself like to look at what Iam buying so visit a Gun show and take a look.

I just today ordered my first AK, a Russian Saiga 7.62 converted from Classic Arms for $520.  Yugo's and Hungarians also tend to be around the price you're looking  at Centerfire Systems.

Those are all in the $500-$600 range.  Lower and you'll have to get a Romanian.  They're good, but you'll need to inspect them personally before purchase, otherwise you could get a bad one.  Polish ones are up in the $700s or so.  There's a sticky thread in the AK Reference forum called "AKs in order of quality" you should go check it out.

And do searches, too.

IN the $600 range the best deal going is the AZ RESPONSE SYSTEM AK HE makes and outstand gun at a good price.
