I tried the search function and I got nothing (even just using the word "bolt"). I was just curious if one could ID a bolt to country of origin and if there were really any differences in them.

It is really had to tell.  Post some pics. Does this have a spring loaded firing pin? if you answer yes than it is probably chinese.

Falcongunner, can I play too?

I've had this one lying around forever. It was sold to me as Yugo but wouldn't fit in either of two Yugo rifles I had. It does fit in a Polish, and in a Vector mutt.

I don't mean to hijack your thread. Say the word and I'll delete this post. But our questions are pretty much identical so it seemed silly to start a duplicate thread.

could be chinese, but it looks yugo to me.

what do you mean it doesn't fit? headspaces bad?

the best way to tell is looking at the serial number.

not tha tI could ID it, but I hav enoticed serial numbers are in different fonts sometimes.

No problem with me , I was just curious and did not remember seeing anything in particular dealing with bolts.\

Perhaps someone has a resource to refer to.

The only thing I know about the bolts for Identification is:

My Romanian 74 bolt has a smaller locking lug than my Bulgarian 74 bolt does.

Romanian on the bottom.

The bolt wouldn't close at all, in either of two M70AB2's I tried it in. The bolt came from Centerfire, I think, and I opted to just keep it.

I tried to photograph the serial # but I can't get the lighting right now that it's dark out. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow in daylight.

EDIT: So what's the risk in just trying it out to see if it'll run?
