hello all...this may be a hard to answer question but is $650 reasonable for an unfired, in the box hungarian ak-47?  I believe there was an S in the model number, not quite sure.  It didn't have a thumbhole stock, blonde furniture and I believe it said imported by Armory, not positive.  I don't know much about Ak's and I have never had an Ak ...had some SKS's though but I haven't bought 7.62x39 for years...where do you guys get ammo nowadays?

It sounds like it might be SA-85M.  Check to see the importer, probably says KBI or Kassanar.  These are good rifles.  I have one of the ban types.  I am not a fan of the thumbhole's look but damn they are comfortable.  All the same I like the rifle and will definately buy a no ban type in the future.  I would even consider debanning a ban type.  I paid 500 for a slightly used one.  The going rate seems to be 600 NIB.  If you can hold and can check it out it might be worth paying 50 more for it.  If it is online you could probably find one for less but not a whole lot less.

I've got a Hungarian AK-47 and i love it! I got some of my 7.62x39 ammo at my local Walmart but they've raised the prices a bit $27.00 for a box of 40 Winchester USA 123gr. FMJ Ammo .
