I'm utterly and completely new to the AK's

I just saw an AD from a sponsor here for a WASR-T and I am interested in picking one up. Is there anything I should know about this particular rifle? anything to avoid or should I avoid this rifle all together?

This is the pic they have posted and hopefully they won't mind me posting the pic and the description of said rifle.

Here is the description:

These are WASR rifles in 7.62x39mm that have been "Certified" to be straight (no canted front sight base, rear sight base or gas block). We have approximately 15 of these rifles in at this time. These are our own "T" models that we assembled from new rifle and include the four rail handguard system, black pistol grip and stock.

PRICE: $459.95

These rifles include:
- chrome-lined hammer forged barrel
- UTG front rail handguards installed with rail covers (not shown)
- US-made standard length stock and pistol grip
- cleaning rod
- 30-round military magazine
- no "wings" to secure bayonet
- cleaning kit
- sling
- oil bottle
- muzzle tack-welded (but the barrels DO have the threads)
- G2 trigger group

You can choose from slant brakes, AK-74-type muzzle brakes, Yankee Hill flash hiders or just the standard muzzle nut, your choice! We can and will modify these rifles for BAN STATE PURCHASES!!!

My only concern is, the dream AK for me would look like this but with the quad rail:

I think that is called a 74 style folding stock and brake?

Thanks

Either rifle will go bang, but for me, I'm the kind of guy who waits until I can buy exactly what I want. So look deep down inside and decide if you want the sidefolder, decide what caliber, decide what accessories you want, and make it happen.

Good luck.

(And quad rails on an AK=)

I know I want a 7.62 and I have $500 to spend.

And yes, I'm not HUGE on the rail but I want to hang a light on it so I need a rail unless there is another way.

The rifle described in the add will be a good rifle.  The big problems with WASR-10 have all been fixed by the replaced parts, and the (assumed) quality control.

This is a good starter rifle, and it is at a reasonable price with the quad rail and trigger group.

If you want a good side folder, maybe you can find another rifle that will have one but you will probably pay more.  You can get a decent side folding stock to replace this one for maybe $80.?  Avoid the Tapco folder, it looks and feels flimsy.

Personally I like the quad rail on my WASR.

Radiator hose clamps and maglite---some of us have been around since before the light rail was an option.

I bought my WASR-10 from Henderson about a month ago. I bought the standard WASR, which is basically the same gun only without the black plastic stock or quad rail and it's a fantastic rifle. The only problem is now I want to buy another one. For the price that can't be beat. Going out and attempting to replace the stock and hand guards after wards would almost definitely end up costing you a lot more than just buying the rifle with that setup in the first place, so if it's what you want get it.
