2 guns are always better than one.

Especially those two.

Tough decision - you need some good ole' fashion peer pressure:

I'm sorry - I guess you see which way I choose.  I can see you like both options so, in all serious, choose what would really serve you best.  An NDM-86 seems to be appreciating quite well and there won't ever be any more brought into the US again.  Many who have them consider it a good investment - even if you shoot it, you'll have no problem getting your money back.  And it's a fun rifle that gets a lot of looks at the range (if you're into making other folks drool a little).

On the flip side, a Romanian FPK/PSL is a close relative of an NDM-86 and shoots the same round.  You can hit the same target at the same distance with this rifle as an NDM-86.  And as mentioned, you'd have some extra play money should you purchase one.

I suppose it comes down to collectibility versus practically for you.  If you're wanting a rifle to shoot a lot with and not be terribly concerned with "roughing up" a little should it happen, them perhaps the Romanian FPK/PSL is a great choice that allows you to get another weapon.  But if you're more of a connoisseur of a classic Russian/Soviet Bloc weapon and interested in an investment, maybe the NDM-86 is your choice.

Regardless of which you choose, both choices are fairly solid and only you know what's best for you at present.  Not to "swing a vote," but the fact remains the NDM-86 has become a rare (and increasingly expensive) rifle.  Another one may not swing your way again... or at least not at that price and when you're able to actually have the funds available to make the purchase.  Should you get the NDM-86 and discover it's not quite what you probably wanted, you can always sell it to later easily locate another Romanian FPK/PSL and your other rifle.  But should you get the other two rifles and change your mind about the purchase, can you sell them and easily locate another NDM-86 (especially with the convienice of getting it from an acquaintance)?

Just food for thought...

Is the 86 in 54r or 308?

For the groups of the SASS (1.5moa), the NDM is a better investment at $2,800 (Tomac is a known good guy  http://www.hk94.com/hk/index.php?showtopic=25122)

super sass + 2 cases of lithuanian.  the psl and the ndm, while indisputably neat, will have issues with barrel whip if they get too warm.  the armalite will be amazingly accurate day and night for the rest of your life.

There is nothing like an NDM...

Except a Dragunov.

The NDM will always be worth more than the PSL and the SASS put togeather.
