under folding stock pins? In my journeys far and wide to build my kit, I lost one pin. I went to a hardware store and bought a couple of pins but they are too small and too big respectively. I figure I can hopefully just buy three new ones as 1 of the remaining 2 is not looking so good either. Suggestions, comments, ideas? I am this close to being able to have my Polish built and then this happens.

Joe at JKF has a lot of small parts that are hard to find and the Polish pins at $5.00 each are well worth it. It may take them a few weeks to get them to you however, the assortment of hard to find parts they stock is considerable.

I build a lot of these underfolder kits and most are short at least one of the pins if not all three. What I do is buy the 1' lengths of 3mm tool steel tight tolerance metric rod (part number 8116k58) from McMaster Carr for $2.75 and cut them off as I need them, they fit perfect. Delivery is just a couple of days. Just use one of the ones you have now as a template, trim and chamfer both ends and in 3 minutes you have a perfect replacement.

The extra length left over is helpful when you drop one you just made and it rolls underneath the bench somewhere on the floor, this way you can just make another one instead of crawling around on you hands and knees for an hour trying to find it.
