I bought this Ak-47 from a co-workers brother. He didn't give me receipts or any paperwork. http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l437/Kevinhh89/MVC-572F.jpg http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l437/Kevinhh89/MVC-571F.jpg If you look on the leftside of the receiver it shows an Eagle and the writing says "Firing Line" but there is a side mount for scopes that is attached so i can't read the rest. I'm going to figure out how to take that mount off but for now i'm curious to see if anyone here has seen one of these before. http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l437/Kevinhh89/MVC-573F.jpg http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l437/Kevinhh89/MVC-570F.jpg http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l437/Kevinhh89/MVC-568F.jpg The guy I bought it from said he paid 800 bucks for it and it is American made. Thanks in advance! Kevinhh |
Because, a milled receiver has more potential for accuracy than does a stamped/riveted receiver. Therefore a scope would do more good on a milled receiver vs a stamped one... |

I don't know what that heck that is. I looks like a Chinese rifle, but is built on a US made reciever. I'd keep the side rail. They're far-and-away the best optics mount for AKs and unless you're trying to make a clone of an old general issue AK, there's no reason to remove it. |
There is no scientific proof it will increase accuracy. Bolt locks into trunnion not receiver in stamped receiver. |

The furniture looks like it's off of an NHM, and the front end could be either MAK or Bulgarian...or type III. If it is an NHM, I'd be interested in why it was rebuilt on another milled receiver. If it was a Bulgarian or Russian donor, it's a shame the front end was made ban compliant. And I too don't buy the "milled is more accurate than stamped" theory either. Like jungp said, the trunnion is where the lockup happens. I will admit that the east bloc scope rail looks funny on a milled receiver, but it's my favorite mounting option for AKs. I only have Romanian AK's, so I'm not as knowledgable as some here, but I know none of my guide-rod buttons looks like that. If you can't find any stamped markings, maybe a clue lies in that stepped lip on the top of the button? |

Thanks everyone for the replies. What does NHM mean? I bought this rifle as is, did not add anything to it. Hueto
I did not see any markings around that button. Kevinhh P.S. bought it for 420 dollars |
This! It's not Chinese, it's a Bulgarian SA-93 kit built on a Firing Line receiver. You got a great price on it. Swap out the furniture for something good and you'll have a hell of a rifle on your hands. |
Out of a couple ak-47s that i've held with different furniture, i'd say this furniture i've got on it is the most comfortable. Most ak-47s buttstocks are too short... the ones I got are perfect for me. Although i'd like to change out the forearm with some rail grips, that way I could add a Light and maybe an EOtech in the future, but I think the buttstock will stay. Kevinhh |
