I am not an AK guy (be easy on me) but I believe I may have come across a great deal on a Poly Tech underfolder w/spike bayonet. Can I get some insight on what to look for on this thing? Here are the markings: It has 388 w/ an oval around it and the serial # starts w/ PF-88XXX? AKS-762 7.62X39mm Semi-Auto It also has something on the bottom of it but I am not sure? He said it was imported by Keng's firearms? It has Poly technologies on the side but doesn't have Beijing, China or anything else? How can I tell if it is milled(are all poly-techs milled?), pre-ban/post? Any help as quick as possible would be great! |

If it is milled there will be two lightening cuts on both side of the receiver near the front, if it is stamped there will be rivets. If it's a double underfolder it's going to be pre-ban because of the bayonet. I don't think that Polytech made any double underfolders after the ban. But in either case, if it is pre-ban it will have a threaded barrel with muzzle nut on the end (or some other type of muzzle devices if the previous owner put one on). I own one as well and in the words of Tony the Tiger, "Theeeeey're Great!" Also, here you go: www.ak47stuff.com/images/system/norm.php?1CA50-00-10-26-06-025.jpg The top one is a milled receiver and the bottom is a stamped. Mine is stamped as I'm sure your's will be also. |
Because there is a ban on Chinese rifle imports, these won't likely ever be imported again. It's way overpriced (for me) unless you must have it for your collection. Since the ban expired in 2004, you can get underfolders so prices dropped on pre-ban rifles. They're still worth a lot, but not the premium they used to get. Polytechs can be pre or post ban. I have a post-ban that I de-banned with U.S. parts. |
