A business/pleasure trip to the Sin City brought me in contact with "The Gun Store" on E. Tropicana. What caught my attention first was the triangle shaped sign atop several Taxi's with the name of the store and a pic of an MP-5. After visiting the website and finding out that a person could choose from a vast collection of semi and fully auto rifles I was on my way. My first rental was the MP-5 which I have always wanted to try out and that little weapon is alot of fun in a short amount of time. The MP is a small, highly reliable 9 mm machine gun that is as fun to shoot as it is cool to look at.  The range officer suggested that I also rent the fully automatic AK that they had displayed on the wall. I am here to tell you that after shooting my Vector Arms semi AK I was certain that it could not get any better. I was once again proven wrong as I went through several hundred rounds of ammo with a quickness as this was pure joy to shoot down range. The weight and design of this AK makes it extremely user friendly and I always found my shots on target for that reason.

What a way for me to gain a new experience I was not sure if I could ever  have being able to have range time with two fine full autos.  If you are ever in Las Vegas, look these guys up as they offer the experience what most cannot offer they  have a very professional organization as well.

I'd say that is a much more responsible way to spend your money in Las Vegas than the traditional way.

I didn't know there were places you could rent full-auto weapons. I will definitely have to put that on my to-do list!

I do like those MP5's.

My wife and I went to Vegas for our honeymoon, and while there stopped in to shoot some full-auto.

I chose the M3 Greasegun, while she chose a Madsen.  The greasegun kept jamming, but the Madsen was quite fun.  She shot at a life-size Osama target, then we hung it up over some stupid modern art print in our room at the Wynn.  I'm sure the maids loved that.

Full Auto AK's are fun, but even with cheap ammo they can get spendy to spank

If you don't mind me asking, what did they charge for rental?

As much fun as I had they are quite proud of the full auto rentals. Renting two types of weapon and I believe 200 rounds was $120. My justification is that  being a resident of Florida I cannot go anywhere and simply rent a full auto and also I would have just fed that money into a casino so why not have a little fun with it.

You surely can rent a machine gun in Florida, you didn't have to go to Las Vegas.

I was already in Vegas on business and stumbled across the Gun Store. And in the State of Florida not sure of the full auto rental laws but in my travels I have yet to find a store or range that will rent to a private citizen. If anyone knows of one please post so that I can go there as well.

I was visiting my parents in Cocoa Beach last year and I found a place close by with an indoor range and they had a full auto for rent, I think it was an Uzi but could have been an MP5, some kind of 9mm sub machine  gun. I think it was $50 + ammo to rent. The place could have been on Merritt Island.

Just an FYI guys.. the gun store on Trop is very expensive.. but there are other alternatives..

Discount Firearms is a great range and when I go into town its one of the places I like to shoot.. they ALSO have rentals.

From their site..

http://www.discountfirearmsinc.com/Rentals.htm

Pistol/Revolver Rental Fee:

$5 and up for pistol or revolver rental

Machine Gun Rental Fee:

$25 per 30 round magazine. (Includes Range fee, Target, Eye and Ear Protection)

Also its a great store for picking up supplies and such.. I always send people there because its a bit cheaper then the gun store.

Love the indoor range there.. You can shoot your own stuff there as well.

Yeah, the Gun Store is pretty cool, I rented an MP40 once and it was tremendously fun.

Only thing I didn't like is some of the employees think they're too cool for school.

Thanks for all of the insight on full auto rental around the country. I consider myself lucky and happy to have had the experience of firing full automatic weapons. Considering that up until three days ago I had not the experience nor the knowledge that a person could even have this type of opportunity.

Used to be A&S in Youngwood, PA....that's SE of Pittsburgh, had a couple FA rentals.  The place has since changed hands, but it's worth a look.

The place is called The Gun Site, the owner Steve is a great guy.  I beleive he has a couple of different full autos for rent. I haven't partaken as of yet, although I go in there all the time.

Its also a great place for a good deal on your regular semi-auto variants. I've bought both an AR and an AK from there, along with a couple of pistols, all at very fair prices.

Its at 125 S. Banana River Dr.
