| Ok, so I just bought a set of wood handguards to replace the poly that came with my Vector Arms underfolder. The upper handguard already had a gas tube with it, so I just swapped it directly. The new tube has two sets of four small holes on both the left and right side of the tube. Is this a problem? It looks to be manufactured like this, so I presume that it won't effect the function? |
If I understand you correctly, that new tube is an AK47 gas tube. The superior and modern design of the AKM gas tube, has the gas port holes at the very end of the gas tube. The reason for this is that when the rifle is just sitting there, the gas piston plugs those holes! On the other hand, the AK47 gas tube holes are always open, therefore dirt and other debris can more readily enter the gas tube. If I were you, I would pull the hand guard off the AK47 gas tube and use the correct AKM gas tube that came with your rifle... |
