How much does it cost to do a proper Saiga conversion to an AK-103 clone? I know a basic Saiga conversion doesn't cost much, but I want a true AK look if I'm going to do it. I'm thinking: polymer stock set, correct FSB, cleaning rod, muzzle brake, etc. My other option is to buy a Romanian G. Will either get me ~2 MOA? |

dont underestimate a siaga conversion. i sold my unmodified saiga to a good friend whom im helping with the conversion. everything is involved quick list for ya -piston -new gas tube -new front sight post (if you want to thread it) -trigger and fire control group -trigger guard -feed ramp -weld unused holes -press fit new sight post and gas block (pro only!) -all new furniture -the piston is pressed into the bolt on some so you will have to drill out the bolt -have the rifle refinished -rivet's this is a quick list if you wanted to take it further you could do a new reciever with dimples to eliminate mag wobble which can lead to a misfeed if firing on the move. moving onto prices all approx from what i can remember from converting my old one. -piston avg 20+ -sight posts up to 75 -gas tube around 40 -feed ramp 25 -weld unused rivet holes 100 at a local welder -furniture depends on what you choose we used wood that we got for 45 -misc gunsmith fees 200 -refinishing havent even looked we are doing it ourselves what we found is too expect to spend more than you did on the original rifle to make it correctly. I consider this the basic conversion. romg def not 2 moa sorry shot 3 of them and at best was 3 moa slow and controlled fire. my tantal wz88 will get 2 moa. but i just spent 5k on a sub 1/2 moa ar for accuracy. aks are good for point and shoot type shooting and cannot compete with the technology in ar's. dont get me wrong i love my aks just cant take it to a range and try and compete w/the ar guys. |
