| I am looking at either a Khyber Pass or Under folder AK. Which has the better check weld on it? I assume the Side folder would but I could be wrong. |

You need to try them both out if possbile. The cheekweld between teh two is different, no doubt. But which is "better" is subjective because what fits you may not fit me. For me, my UF (stamped struts) fits right in the nook of my jaw [below lower lip/teeth line and bottom of chin] instead of up by my cheekbone, but it fits comfortable to me. The wide butt plate fits great to my shoulder, too. The triangle side folder is more like the original wood stock, with a very slightly higher comb. It fits right up to my cheekbone and sits very comfortable and more traditional vs the UF, but again... no complaints from me on the UF. Pick your poison. Niether fit as "good" as a traditional wood stock (for most shooters, anyway).  |
| I like my underfolder. The only issue I have with it is the fact that a metal stock is going to get really hot in the sun, and really cold in the... cold. I'm working on a special kind of wrap. I'll go into details in a future thread if it works as well as I think it will. |

I never tried because I heard that it would make folding the underfolder difficult. Besides, I have a different idea. Para Cord is cool in a commando/mercenary kind of way, but it's a little too Rambo for me. I wanted something a little more modern and tacticool. I have a little more work to do on my idea. I'll share with everyone if it works. Probably around the end of the week. |
