Well, my Lancaster has sent a couple thousand downrange without a burp.

But, it's time to swap out and get a new toy.

I will shop locally for an Arsenal but I hear a lot about Yugo's.

Aim Surplus has them for $420 and claim a heavier receiver (1.6?).
Seems cheap for a rifle that has a pretty good group of followers.

A heavy barrel has a nice sound to it.  Whazzup with heavy barrel and where I get it?

The new rifle should be highly reliable and be capable of hitting a
grapefruit at 100yds using the Kobra.  All I need/want.

Furniture not an issue and I'll go cheapest as plan to upgrade to Ironwood.

After about five months on the darkside, more questions than ever.  Complicated
by being a one rifle guy.

I will finish dickering with the Kobra tomorrow and then the Lancaster goes to it's new owner.

I am not an expert, but I do believe the heavy barrels are U.S. made and not as desirable. Also most of the Yugos I have seen lately have been from Century, and most shooters here will tell you to avoid them.......Keep the Lancaster, sounds like she's almost broke in

The Yugos, or any other AK for that matter except for VEPRs and RPKs don't have "heavy barrels". Yeah, they're a little thicker, but not by much. There's aboslutely nothing wrong with the US-made barrels on the Yugos though.

That said, a Century Yugo is no upgrade from a Lancaster.

I would look into an Arsenal or maybe a Saiga conversion.

IDK, I dont have any complaints about my Yugo underfolder from Century! I mean I put 1000 rounds through it yesterday in a couple of hours with no problems what so ever. Its no sniper weapon lol, but at 300 yards I managed to make a nice size hole in the target from all of the bullets hitting around the same spot within a few inches of each other. I guess with AK's your just not going to be happy with one lol, so I say buy 1 of each and vibe out to them while kicking back at home watching tv. My buddy finally pulled out his SLR 95 pre-ban from the box and shot it yesterday, yea I ended up buying that from him too. Which is better? IDK! I enjoy the looks and shooting them both.

Heres my underfolder

Okay, how about this.

This looks pretty good to me.  It claims to be all new and most of what I see on this forum speaks well of Bulgarian.  Where is the caveat, here?

Thanks for your input, guys.........all opinions are welcome.  I don't want to do this again.

What kind of problems did you have with the Lancaster ? I have on and aside for cosmetic issues and trigger issues which I fixed myself it shoots fine. After you spend another $600 you might not be getting  anything that will shoot better than what you have now.

No problems with the Lancaster.

I would just like to "start over" basically, for the fun of it.  I have plans for the wood, as well.

To me, heavier is cool.

Anyone else have anything to add?

I'm listening.

Thanks, survivorman...

no qestion the Vector are good rifles.  I'm under the impression the milled is no longer in stock...anywhere.

I am getting shopped, out, so to speak.  Going to take a break and hit it again.

Thx for the info.

Ehhhh....a stamped Vector or SSR-85 isn't an upgrade from a Lancaster either. They're basically the same thing, with a parkerized finish rather than a parked AND painted finish.

If you want to upgrade, look at something like a SAM-7 or an SLR-107FR.

Well, I popped for the SSR from Atlantic.

I like the 1.6mm receiver and I think the barrel and guts will work for me as well.

Actually, I wasn't really upgrading but trying to find whatever combination of features appealed to me.

We'll see how this one works out with a couple of parts and some wood, or...whatever
happens to be buzzing me that day.

I'm happy with the decision and think I have a good blaster. As was the Lancaster but I hated it when I scratched, it.

Thanks for your input, guys, it's alway helpful to have some opinions.
