Centrys are a crap shoot. Could get a good one could get a bad one. I have the Champion 2007 ak pistol and it is awesome.

So do you actually own one of the Yugo M-70s made by Century?

I recently picked up a fixed stock Century M70 from AIM and it is nice.  Tight mags, straight sights, nice wood.  Can't really find anything to complain about, especially for $399.

'Cause you can't handle anything this cool!

Serously, I've had two, both were fine. I still own this one.

Like anything Century, there is always a chance you might have to polish something, dremel something, drill something, beat something with a hammer, or even send it back for repair/replacement.

It's only a slight chance, really, but you should be aware of it since you asked for reasons why NOT to get one.

Because the chrome ones from classic arms are more fun...

Not a Yugo but i have handeled enough Century weapons to know they put out a fair amount of crap.

I couldn't be happier with mine! I purchased a new grip and handguards from Ironwood and finished them and this is the final product: Accurate as hell, Fit and Finish is top notch, it's kind of on the heavy side, but hey I like it!

The thing is not all weapons sold by Century are built by Century. They sub out a lot of their work and those sub-contractors can vary from very good to shit.

You obviously may not know enough about them to give an informed answer then.  Aren't the Century Yugo outsourced to builders?

I've heard that the Yugo's are farmed out to some other builder. I haven't heard anything bad about the Yugo's, besides the plastic handguards melting. I'd get the solid stocked B1.

I love that pistol grip, I didn't see it on the Ironwood website... can you tell me which one it is?

I purchased an M70 fixed stock from Centerfire built by Century... major front HG wobble, front sight was terribly canted... and the stock fit was terrible... I sent it back...

Every show I check out the AK's they are pumping out and... damn... for that money I would rather do it myself...

It's from Ironwood but I used a Dremmel to file it down a little!!! It took many hours to get it right

I have 2 Century Yugo underfolder and one of them is absolutely perfect.  The other however
was sort of a problem child.  I had to send back the latter to fix the magazine sitting too low in the well problem.  Century fixed it and returned it...

Would I do it again?

Heck yeah, the Yugo underfolder from Century is probably the bargain at the moment in my opinion in the AK world.

Hmmmm. look at some of the posts and I have seen enough to know they are canted, just like the majority of their Galils. Their FALs suck butt, and their CETMEs were crap too without major work. I will let their record stand.

I know enough to say generally their products can be hit or miss. Ohh and sorry I can't have an opinion, are we now in Russia?

Well, if you have not actually handled one you may be surprised by their quality.

To the OP, all of the Yugo's I've had have functioned flawlessly.

Good value IF you are ok with the stock. I'd rather put my jaw on an iron railing and hit it with a hammer for less $$, but some like them...

CPD1515, I know you said you got your wood from Ironwood,But what type of wood is it, and did you alter the pistol grip,
Thanks,
Chefgun.,
PS, I had to send my M70 underfolder back to Century as whan you fired it the bolt came back about 1 inch. Turns out the grenade sight/gas cutoff was worn out so they put what looks like a brand new one, and I can tell they took the whole rifle apart and even Refinished it and sent a list of quitea few other things they did. The thing looks, and shoots just damm near as good as my Preban Mitchell, except its parked and not blued. It really is like a new weapon,
