Is there a good source that IDs the various accessories that are AK related, either in print or online? I have the "AK-47 and AK-74 Kalashnikov Rifles and Their Variations(2nd Edition)" by Joe Poyer but it really isn't definitive when it comes to magazines, mag pouches, oil bottles, bayonets, cleaning kits, etc. I've found that through various transaction I have accumulated quite a bit of this stuff as people tend to "throw them in". So I have a bunch of stuff with no idea country of origin, relative rarity, etc. I'd hate to toss something out or try to rig some sort of homemade mag vest only to find I was using something rare that could not only round out someone elses collection but possibly be valuable. I remember reading somewhere that people sometimes collected just oil bottles or bayos or slings. So is there a website or a book with the info? I'd really like to inventory all of my AK related items. On a related note, is there any gun collection software that anyone can recommend? I really didn't want to have to learn Excel to make my own spreadsheet if its already been done better. Be nice to have pictures and details of everything I own in a database. Partially for my own piece of mind, partially for my family should I die suddenly (hate for them to sell something off for a couple hundred bucks when it was worth more) and partially after I saw that member here that had the fire right before Christmas. Insurance purposes you know? I don't even know what would be covered. I have to do the same thing for acoustic and electric guitars, amps, effects and stuff I accumulated from when I was younger and still a player. Les Pauls to AK-47s it's a natural progression don't you know. LOL. But any assitance on either software or accessory identification would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, RWB64 |
